I went to see the Brett Daniels’ Magic & Beyond and got home an hour ago.
There was a little girl in front of us who suddenly burst into tears and ran off before the show started. Her grandparents had to chase after her while her mother was there with the other children. Lol, I hate kids.
The show started with horrible dancing from the assistants, then a few lame tricks, and the only redemption was that there were birds. And what would prove to be the highlight of it for me was when a Cockatoo pooped on stage after it had circled the showroom. Some typical stunts and really bad jokes which made a woman behind me cackle. Seriously, cackle. Like a witch! Her laugh was great. I’m not all too impressed with disappearing illusions but there was one that I did enjoy; Brett took a guy from the audience (whose name was Sei? That’s a nice name :3) and made him disappear until the next illusion where he tried explaining how things worked from behind and showed us a woman getting into a box and then turned into the guy. Then some slight of hand that made me yawn, and you could see him tuck his thumb in too anyway. Then another illusion where he randomly popped up to my section, wtf how’d he get there. And the finale illusion was with a motorbike, that managed to go from the stage to an outlet booth up top.
The assistants annoyed me. I thought that they were local girls hired for the show’s running dates this summer but when he talked it gave the impression that they’re his girls. So if they’ve been with him for more than a year then I’m surprised at how unsynchronized and messy their dancing was. The lighting was also bothersome. I can handle some lights but there were two distinct times that the lights were facing directly at the audience and made me wince.
Somewhen there was also a disco ball and it was difficult for me to pay attention to the stage because disco balls are very fascinating.
